From Elder Lisa’s heart...
Blessings upon you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! We continue to pray for our beloved City of St. Louis and everyone impacted by May’s deadly tornado. We trust and believe God Almighty, who is Jehovah Jireh (which means the Lord will provide), to 1) provide comfort and godly peace to those who are still displaced from their homes, 2) believe that HE is working all things together for their good, and, 3) know that He has a Plan to restore the City of St. Louis, so that it is better than it was before the deadly storms. For confirmation of God’s promises of restoration, read Psalm 51:12, Jeremiah 30:17, Isaiah 61:7, Acts 3:19-21, and Joel 2:25-26. These passages are just a few of many in the Bible that tell us of God’s commitment and promise to restore what the devil has taken from us. Pray and meditate on these scriptures daily and know that your restoration is assured.
As we continue our recovery from May’s devastating events, our benevolent God chose this moment to remind us that in times like these, “Sadness Sparks Hope.” Based on Psalm 42:1-6, we were encouraged to remember all the benefits we have received from our loving Creator and, as we recall all those good things, allow those memories to spark our hope. God wants to move us from being downcast and sad to a place of remembrance. It only takes a “spark” of remembrance to restore your hope. Place your trust and confidence in your memories and do not forget His benefits. Where is your hope? My hope is in God!! (continued on back…)
Then on Sunday, June 15, we celebrated Father’s Day and were encouraged with a message titled, “The Greatest Step Show Ever” based on Psalm 37:23-31 (NIV). This passage of scripture reminds us of God’s care and promise to never let us slip or fall if we remain faithful and committed to following after Him. I shared a memory of watching a Greek “step show” performed by a group of fraternity brothers. These young men executed their step show with precision and a commitment to fulfill their individual roles and stay in step with each other. As the unity of the step performance is impressive, the steppers display their delight. They are delighted which brings delight to those watching. Such precision can only be accomplished through a commitment to practice, to perform with excellence, and to follow the instructions. Likewise, God delights in us when we are committed to study (practice) His word, stay in step with Him, and follow His instructions for righteous living. We must remain positioned to receive all He has promised us. Do not get out of step with God. Place all your hope and trust in God Almighty and allow Him to order your steps.
On June 29, we celebrated “Grateful for Grace” Sunday and were reminded of the “Reasons for the Revelation of Grace” based on John 16:25-31 (NIV). In this passage, there was a challenge in the relationship the disciples had with Jesus. Their mouths were saying one thing but their hearts had not embraced the plan. Many relationship have similar challenges: ‘do they really love me’; ‘can I trust them’, ‘what did they mean by what they said?’ That is when the disciples, who had been following Jesus for three years, had an “Aha” moment and finally understood the plan, but God wants us to follow Him even when we don’t understand what He is doing. God’s grace is His promise, and these are all the “reasons” you need to know: 1) God loves us, which is why 2) He sent Jesus 3) If we ask anything in the name of Jesus, God will do it according to His will; 4) God wants us to have peace; and, 5) God has already given us everything we need. So, take courage in what God has already told you. That is ALL you need to know.
Peace.
Happy Birthday blessings to those born in July.
